Mission Statement and Purpose....................[SPD Leadership]

The Society for Pediatric Dermatology was established in 1975 and currently has a membership of over 550 worldwide. It is the only national organization in the United States specifically dedicated to the field of Pediatric Dermatology.

Mission Statement
The objective of the Society is to promote, develop and advance education, research and care of skin disease in all pediatric age groups.

The Society has an international membership comprised of physicians, scientists, and professionals in training who have an interest in pediatric skin and its diseases.

The Society is an advocate and resource for public and government awareness of pediatric skin disease and skin health. The Society supports the development of scientific careers in the field of pediatric skin disorders.

The Society fosters an exchange of information between physicians, health professionals, patients, patient organizations and other groups related to the field of pediatric dermatology.

The organization meets twice a year, once prior to the annual meeting of the American Academy of Dermatology and at the Society's annual meeting held during the summer. The meetings are devoted to educating physicians about advances in pediatric dermatology, supporting children with dermatological diseases and improving the care of children.

The organization in association with Blackwell Science Inc. publishes bimonthly the Journal Pediatric Dermatology.
