CANCELLATION/REFUND POLICY
Registration fees, less a $100 administration fee, will be refunded following the meeting upon written notice of cancellation to the SPD headquarters office. In order to qualify for a refund of fees, cancellation notice must be received in writing to spd@hp-assoc.com no later than June 3, 2011. There will be no refund of fees for cancellations received after that date.

Please note that all spouses, children and guests must be officially registered as an accompanying guest to attend the meeting to participate in any of the meal functions (including breakfast) or social activities. Badges will be required to be worn during these activities to gain admittance.

National Aquarium

The wonder of the world-famous National Aquarium awaits you! This tour includes Aquarium Admission, the 4D Immersion Theater and the Dolphin Show. Immerse yourself in the lush tropical rainforest, dive into the clear waters of the coral reef, take a trek to the Australian canyon, or descend into a world of mystery and magic while sharks of varying sizes slowly encircle you. Then Catch a show in the 4D Immersion Theater followed by a Dolphin Show that will allow you to see the dolphins like never before! Tickets required. Limited to the first 125 people who register.


 
Baseball in Baltimore: Tour of Oriole Park at Camden Yards & Babe Ruth Birthplace Museum

This tour begins with a trip to Camden Yards - home of the Baltimore Orioles. The tour will include visits to the Orioles dugout, press level, scoreboard/jumbo tron and suite level and includes a historical perspective of the B & O Railroad and Inner Harbor. Next is a stop at the Babe Ruth Birthplace Museum, the house where the famed Yankee slugger was born - only a long fly ball from Camden Yards. View exhibits that chronicle his life and many records and achievements in baseball. Tickets required. Limited to the first 40 people who register.


 
Fort McHenry National Monument and Historic Shrine
2:15pm - 4:45pm

Take a water taxi to visit an 18th Century star-shaped fort and the birthplace for the National Anthem. Learn how the British bombardment of Fort McHenry in Baltimore led to the writing of "The Star-Spangled Banner." Discover why it has become national tradition that when a new flag is designed it first flies over Fort McHenry and see the first official 49 and 50 star American flags ever flown. Watch a 15-minute introductory film, "The Defense of Fort McHenry" and catch one of the daily flag changes. Tickets required. Limited to the first 50 people who register.


 
Seadog Sightseeing Speedboat Tour
2:30pm - 4:00pm

No trip to Baltimore is complete without an insider's view of the city. This 50-minute Sightseeing and Speedboat Tour combines a fun and educational narrative of Baltimore's historic sights with an exciting speedboat ride. The tour departs from the Inner Harbor and heads southeast on the Patapsco River towards Key Bridge and back. The Seadog is the best way to view Baltimore and the surrounding area, combining an exhilarating boat ride with fantastic views of Baltimore's famous landmarks and historical sites.Tickets required. CASES OF THE YEAR

The "Cases of the Year" category includes cases with a known diagnosis, diseases that have proven difficult to diagnose, or cases presenting management challenges. These cases should have attendant teaching value. Please remember that representative photos (jpg files) must be submitted at the time of application for Cases of the Year or the case will not be considered. The Cases of the Year submission deadline is May 13, 2011.

The "Fellows/Junior Faculty Forum" category includes basic science or clinical research projects, which may include case series of clinical interest with accompanying literature reviews, which have been conceived and/or conducted by pediatric dermatology fellows and/or junior faculty who have been out of training for 5 years or less. The Fellows/Junior Faculty Forum submission deadline is May 13, 2011.

POSTER PRESENTATIONS

The "Poster Presentations" are limited to 40 posters. Awards will be presented for the best posters. Dimensions of the poster are not to exceed 4' x 6'. Also, please note that SPD will request that accepted posters be submitted in PDF format, in addition to the paper poster displayed at the meeting. The Poster Presentations submission deadline is May 13, 2011.

*NEW FOR 2011* Three (3) of the Poster Presentations will be selected to give a 10-minute oral presentation during the Pediatric Dermatology Research Workshop which will be held on Saturday, July 9, 2011. If you would like for your Poster Presentation to be considered for one of the 3 slots, please be sure to indicate your interest on the submission page.

TRAVEL AWARDS

Travel awards are now available on a competitive basis to fellows, residents, and medical students who present cases (Cases of the Year) or posters at the SPD Annual Meeting. This is an effort to encourage participation among trainees interested in pediatric dermatology and helps provide recognition for exceptional work as well as financial assistance to attend the meeting. There will be two $1,000 awards available for the SPD 2011 Annual Meeting July 7-10, 2011 in Baltimore, MD. Members who qualify will apply through the SPD website at the time of submission of cases and posters. The SPD's Awards & Goals Committee will evaluate the quality of the case/poster, focusing on whether it presents "new" information, is relevant to care of children with skin diseases, quality of data, and approved consent process.

This continuing medical education activity has been reviewed by the American Academy of Pediatrics and is acceptable for a maximum of 15.25 AAP credits. These credits can be applied toward the AAP CME/CPD Award available to Fellows and Candidate Members of the American Academy of Pediatrics.
