EDUCATIONAL SESSION & ABSTRACT SUBMISSIONS

To maximize the direct participation of pediatric dermatologists around the world in the meeting’s scientific program, the following submission categories and abstracts have been established:

Submission of Courses, Symposia and Seminars – due July 1, 2015
Open: January 1, 2015 | Deadline: July 1, 2015

The SPD will circulate a general call for session proposals for all main courses (3 hours), symposia (1.5 hours) and seminars (1.5 hours) that would be held at WCPD 2017. The call will be sent through organized pediatric dermatology associations, past WCPD participants (with the assistance of the ISPD) as well as selected dermatology and pediatric-related entities. Submissions would be reviewed by the Scientific Organizing Committee and selected for programming based upon merit, geographic representation and potential thematic interest to congress attendees. A preliminary program with selections from submissions will be announced by July 1, 2016.

Submission of Abstracts for Oral Presentation – due February 1, 2017
Open: August 1, 2016 | Deadline: February 1, 2017

A limited number of “stand alone” abstracts that are not related to courses, symposia and seminars will be chosen for oral presentation (15 minutes) during a General Session. We would anticipate these to be late-breaking or high impact research studies that are of significance to the field. Submissions would be subject to a double-blind review by the Scientific Organizing Committee and selected for programming based upon merit and potential thematic interest to congress attendees.

Submission of Abstracts for Poster Presentation – due February 1, 2017
Open: August 1, 2016 | Deadline: February 1, 2017

Abstracts that represent either research-oriented work or case review may be submitted for poster presentation consideration. Submissions would be subject to a double-blind review by the Scientific Organizing Committee and selected for programming based upon merit and potential thematic interest to congress attendees. 150 posters will be accepted for live presentation with the remainder to be included on the program and available on a USB drive. Formal poster presentation time will be scheduled on two days of the congress for live presentation authors to be available to discuss their work with other attendees.

Submission of Cases of the Year – due February 1, 2017
Open: August 1, 2016 | Deadline: February 1, 2017

The "Cases of the Year" category includes cases with a known diagnosis, diseases that have proven difficult to diagnose, or cases presenting management challenges. These cases should have attendant teaching value. A maximum of 30 cases will be selected for short 4 minute presentations (10 presented each day of the Congress in General Session).

All submissions described above will be accepted online via the congress’s official website or mobile app only.

Acceptance for all abstracts submitted for oral presentation, poster presentation and Cases of the Year will be announced by March 15, 2017 so that international attendees have sufficient time to secure the necessary travel documents.

TRAVEL AWARDS

Congress organizers intend on offering a total 20 Travel Awards of $1,000 USD each for residents, fellows, young graduate dermatologists from Developing Countries. There will be five (5) Travel Award available for SPD member fellows, residents or graduate students who present posters or cases at the congress. Eligible attendees may apply when submitting a poster or case abstract and the deadline is February 1, 2017. Travel Award recipients would be announced by March 15, 2017.
