Society for Pediatric Dermatology Nancy Esterly Pediatric Dermatology Visiting Lectureship |
The Society for Pediatric Dermatology is pleased to announce the Nancy Esterly Pediatric Dermatology Visiting Lectureship. The purpose of the Visiting Lectureship is to encourage those dermatology residency programs without access to an expert in pediatric dermatology to benefit from a two-day visit from a pediatric dermatologist.
The visiting lecturer would spend two days at the host institution conducting lectures, seminars, or rounds with dermatology residents, medical students, and faculty.
PROGRAM ELIGIBILITY
ACGME-approved dermatology residency programs in the US or programs accredited by the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada are eligible to submit applications for this program.
CALL FOR APPLICATIONS
Applications will be forwarded to all eligible US and Canadian dermatology residency programs in mid-October; the deadline for submission will be January 10, 2012. The successful applicant program(s) may then schedule the visit for any time during the calendar year 2012.
NUMBER OF VISITING LECTURESHIPS
Two (2) Visiting Lectureships will be awarded annually.
HOW ARE RECIPIENT PROGRAMS SELECTED?
A standing committee with 3-4 members of the current Executive Committee and additional 3 Members At Large will review all applications. Awarded lectureships will be selected based on the need of the program and those would most benefit from the visit.
FORMAT AND ACTIVITIES FOR LECTURESHIP
The actual format and schedule of the visit will be flexible and can be tailored to the host institution’s needs. Examples of suggested activities include: grand rounds, resident lectures and small group sessions, consultation/teaching rounds on current patients, dinner lectures as part of local dermatology society meeting, journal clubs, complex case reviews with select faculty or subspecialty groups, or even meetings with department or program chairs to discuss pediatric dermatology services and/or program growth.
COVERAGE OF EXPENSES FOR VISTING LECTURER
The SPD will provide an honorarium to the Visiting Lecturer, along with reimbursement for travel, lodging, and meal expenses for two days.
