The Pediatric Dermatology Fellowship Training Program application is now available on the web site of the American Board of Dermatology (ABD), www.abderm.org. The ABD is responsible for evaluating and granting approval for each fellowship training program application. Please note that subspecialty programs in Pediatric Dermatology must function in conjunction with ACGME and RRC fully accredited programs in both pediatrics and dermatology. The ABD web site also contains an outline of the Core Curriculum, the Program Director's candidate evaluation form, and the candidate's application for the subspecialty examination.

Position:
Pediatric Dermatology Fellowship (1) – The Department of Pediatrics and Dermatology at Eastern Virginia Medical School is accepting applications for a one-year fellowship in Pediatric Dermatology to begin July 2009. Based at Children’s Hospital of The King’s Daughters, we have a new clinic with pulsed dye laser and narrow band UVB unit. We have general pediatric dermatology clinics, in-patient consult services at the children’s hospital as well as the nursery at the adjoining adult hospital, a multi-disciplinary Vascular Anomalies clinic, and a clinical research program. Fellows will have the opportunity to participate in clinics, surgeries, laser procedures, pediatric and dermatology teaching conferences, and clinical research. This fellowship is in the process of accreditation with the American Board of Dermatology. Applicants must be a graduate of an ACGME-accredited Dermatology residency and be able to obtain a Virginia medical license prior to the start of the fellowship.

Position:
Pediatric Dermatology Fellowship (1) – Applications are being accepted for a one-year pediatric dermatology fellowship position at Children’s Dermatology Services of Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh, part of the UPMC Medical Education Program for July 2009 and beyond.
Requirements:
Applicants must be Board-certified or Board-eligible in Dermatology by the start of the fellowship. Children’s Dermatology Services consists of two full-time, board-certified pediatric dermatologists who provide diagnostic and therapeutic services for infants, children and adolescents with skin disorders. They see approximately 17,000 pediatric dermatologic patients per year. The fellow will gain a wide experience with outpatient diagnosis and treatment, inpatient consultations, pediatric dermatologic surgery, specialty collaboration, teaching conferences and clinical research.

Pediatric Dermatology Fellowship - Applications are being accepted for one or two year fellowship positions at the Children's Memorial Hospital of Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine for July 2008 and beyond. Applicants must be Board-Certified or Board Eligible in Dermatology by the start of the fellowship. Clinical fellowships and combined clinical/research fellowship are available. The staff consists of 4 full-time pediatric dermatologists who see approximately 14,000 pediatric patients per year. The fellow will be exposed to a wide range of clinical conditions through outpatient clinics and inpatient consultations, laser and pediatric dermatologic surgery, and clinical research including quality of life research. Participation in both pediatrics and dermatology didactic sessions, the Midwest Pediatric Dermatology club, student and resident teaching, and divisional didactic staff meetings make this a one-of-a-kind educational experience.

Pediatric Dermatology Fellowship -Applications are being accepted for 1 or 2 year fellowship positions beginning in July 2009 at the University of Massachusetts. Clinical fellowships and combined clinical/research options are available. The staff includes 3 pediatric dermatologists (Susan Sweeney, MD, Leah Belazarian, MD, Karen Wiss, MD) and is part of the UMass Dermatology Division and Children’s Medical Center. The fellow will have exposure to busy general pediatric dermatology clinics, inpatient consultations, NICU rounds and pediatric laser and surgical clinics. Surgical clinics are supervised by a pediatric dermatologic surgeon. Fellows will be involved with teaching pediatric and dermatology residents and will have outstanding options for clinical or basic science research. There are unique opportunities to learn from twice monthly EB and Genodermatosis clinics. Highlights of our program include a very dynamic group, busy outpatient clinics, location in the greater Boston area, and excellent racial/socioeconomic mix of patients. Our fellowship is ABD-approved and is available to those with or without previous pediatric training.

Position:
Pediatric Dermatology Fellowship - The Department of Pediatrics and the Dermatology Service at Texas Children's Hospital/Baylor College of Medicine is accepting applications for one or two year fellowships to begin in July 2009 and beyond. We are currently accepting only U.S.-trained applicants who are dermatology board-certified or eligible. Texas Children's Hospital, which is the primary teaching facility for the pediatric residency program, is one of the top pediatric training programs in the country and the largest pediatric hospital in the U.S. The Dermatology Service consists of 3 full-time pediatric dermatologists (Drs. Alanna Bree, Moise Levy and Denise Metry) who together see approximately 9,000 children per year. In addition to general pediatric dermatology clinics and consultations, fellows will have the opportunity to participate in excisional and laser surgery, vascular birthmark and genetics and other subspecialty clinics, teaching conferences and clinical research.

PEDIATRIC DERMATOLOGY FELLOWSHIP - The Department of Dermatology at the Medical College of Wisconsin is pleased to announce the availability of a funded 1 year Fellowship position in Pediatric Dermatology. The fellowship is under the direction of Beth Drolet, MD, Professor of Dermatology and Pediatrics. The Pediatric Dermatology Division includes four full-time faculty members and one Physician’s Assistant. The group operates out of Children’s Hospital of Wisconsin, a leading pediatric medical center that was recently rated #3 in the nation by Child Magazine. The training experience will focus on consultative inpatient and outpatient Pediatric Dermatology in infants, children and adolescents. It will also provide unique and substantial experience in laser therapy of cutaneous vascular lesions, and involvement in multidisciplinary programs concerning vascular anomalies and neurofibromatosis. The research interests of members of this team include hemangiomas, vascular malformations, birthmarks, mastocytosis, and genodermatoses.

The Department of Dermatology of Columbia University of NY is accepting applications for a one year funded fellowship in Pediatric Dermatology. Positions for July 2009 and beyond are available. The Fellowship is under the Direction of Maria C. Garzon, M.D., Associate Professor of Clinical Dermatology and Clinical Pediatrics at Columbia University and Director of the Division of Pediatric Dermatology at the Morgan Stanley Children’s Hospital of NY-Presbyterian Hospital. MSCHONY is a leading pediatric medical center and has been rated the one of the top children’s hospitals in the country and top children’s hospital in New York City in US News and World Report Surveys. The Division of Pediatric Dermatology is consists of two full-time pediatric dermatologists, a pediatric dermatology fellow, and a nurse coordinator.
The training encompasses consultative inpatient and outpatient Pediatric Dermatology in infants, children and adolescents. Areas of expertise include vascular anomalies, genodermatoses, birthmarks, skin disease in organ transplant patients as well as common pediatric dermatoses. In addition, fellows will have the opportunity to participate in laser surgery, multispecialty clinics in vascular anomalies and epidermolysis bullosa, and clinical research which is conducted with the Department of Dermatology Clinical Research Unit. Research interests of the group include vascular anomalies (hemangiomas and vascular malformations), epidermolysis bullosa, atopic dermatitis, and genetic skin disorders. The group collaborates extensively with other specialists at Columbia University in both clinical and translational research. For candidates interested in clinical and translational research, potential opportunities also exist through the Irving Institute for Clinical and Translational Research of Columbia University which has been awarded one of the NIH-sponsored Clinical and Translational Research Awards.

Position:
Pediatric Dermatology Fellowship - The NYU School of Medicine is accepting applications for a one-year fellowship in Pediatric Dermatology to begin in July 2008. BE/BC dermatologists who will have completed 3 years of dermatology residency training in the United States or Canada are eligible to apply. A background in Pediatrics is preferable, but not mandatory. For applicants who have not had prior training in Pediatrics but who wish to be eligible for Board Certification in Pediatric Dermatology, a 2-year position is possible. The attending staff of the Pediatric Dermatology Unit includes two Full-time and two voluntary staff members. Fellowship training will include outpatient care in private as well as clinic settings, and inpatient consultation activities at Bellevue and NYU/Tisch Hospitals. The fellow will participate in the medical and surgical dermatologic management of pediatric and adolescent patients and have time devoted to clinical research in topics related to pediatric dermatology. The Pediatric Dermatology fellowship at NYU provides an outstanding platform for a future career in an academic or non-academic setting. Salary and benefits will be at the PGY-5 level.

Prerequisites:
The Division of Peds Derm at UCSD/Rady Children's Hospital is now accepting applications for 1) clinical fellowships and 2) research fellowships for 2008. This center has 5 pediatric dermatology faculty members, with a breadth of expertise covering medical, surgical and laser therapy of pediatric disorders, as well as opportunities for basic laboratory experience if a fellow desires. The Pediatric Dermatology division sees more than 12,000 outpatients a year, and has a strong interest and expertise in vascular lesions of childhood, atopic dermatitis, and mechanobullous disorders, as well as disorders requiring surgical intervention. Licensure in the State of California or appropriate US Visa status must be in place prior to onset of training in either of the fellowship programs.
Clinical fellowship candidates must be Board Certified/Board Eligible dermatologists from the US/Canada, or have similar credentials from their home country. Prior pediatric training is not mandatory. The fellow will have opportunities for both clinical and basic science research, as well as extensive experience in outpatient pediatric dermatology care, and training in surgical and laser therapy. Opportunities to participate in weekly academic rounds at Children's, as well as Dermatology Grand Rounds at UCSD exists and are encouraged. Fellows are also encouraged to present at National Meetings.
The research fellowship program provides candidates with an opportunity to take part in and design clinical research trials, as well as take part in all academic components of the program. Clinical opportunities are also encouraged based on the fellow's expertise.

Fellowship in Epidermolysis Bullosa and Clinical Research - Applications are being invited for one or two year fellowship position at the St George Hospital and Sydney Children's Hospital of the University of New South Wales from September 1st 2007 and beyond (start date may be July or August if another fellowship has been completed first). Applicants must be board eligible or board certified in dermatology by the start of the fellowship. The fellowship is a combined clinical/research fellowship. The EB clinic is the only multidisciplinary EB clinic in Australia consisting of two dermatologists, a pediatrician, medical geneticist, EB nurse, social worker, dietitian, physical therapist and pain specialist. The clinic follows up to over 100 patients with EB and at St George Hospital other patients with EB from all around Australia are seen. The fellow will also be involved in clinical trials, research and have opportunities for publishing papers related to the EB clinic and its research as well as a range of clinical conditions through outpatients clinic and inpatient consultations.

Position:
Applications are now being accepted for a one year fellowship position at The Hospital for Sick Children in affiliation with the University of Toronto available as of July 01, 2008 (exact starting date negotiable). Applicants must be BC/BE in Dermatology or have received a FRCPC in Dermatology by the start date. By the start of the fellowship the candidate will also require a license to practice medicine in the Province of Ontario. This is a funded position and will include in-patient consultations, busy outpatient clinics (6500 visits per year) and minor procedures. The fellow will have an opportunity to teach dermatology to pediatric residents and be involved in a research project. There are regular weekly teaching rounds led by the dermatology staff as well as several other seminars throughout the year.
